Integrated Communications
is a multimedia, service-focused communications operation that leads in shaping
the impression of AARP by providing communications planning, support and
execution for AARP’s strategic business units. |

Reporting directly to
the Director of Member Benefit Communications, the Intern will be
responsible for assisting with execution of multiple projects through
partnership and coordination with peers and leaders in other departments.
Summary Statement:
The intern will be
responsible for assisting in the development and execution of a range of
marketing tactics that seek to improve member onboarding, engagement and
retention by effectively welcoming members and communicating the value of
AARP through cross-channel campaigns. The position will primarily
support the benefits communication/marketing needs of the
team.
Closely integrated within the
Member Benefits Communications and Onboarding team, this position
will ultimately perform work related to:
1.
Support development of new Member
Benefits Application site as needed
2.
Helps analyze web metrics for
monthly reporting needs for dissemination to internal stakeholders.
Performs analysis of data.
3.
Reviews competitive analysis tools
to help establish baselines of the online environment.
4.
Explores opportunities to use
emerging technologies to help expand member access to products and services.
5. Works with team to support
member benefits campaign development, execution, tracking and optimization in
digital communications and online and offline marketing channels, as needed.
6.
Helps prepare presentations,
summaries and reports for internal use. Provides research, data and analysis to
ensure efficient and effective web marketing and communications, internally and
externally.
7.
Support other online
on-boarding campaign elements: partners with the internal web and email teams
to:
- Measure, test and optimize the online confirmation and
membership activation experiences to increase .org registration and
benefit awareness/engagement with new members.
- Drive the strategy & optimization of the membership
email confirmation experience to successfully educate and engage new
members.
8.
Works with team on
Member Benefits Materials: assist with the creative development and execution
of various campaigns and tactics aimed at increasing awareness and engagement
with member benefits.
9.
Support projects, as
needed, where we are collaborating with the AARPx (customer experience) team.
10.
Assists with various other
projects, as required.
All work streams will require:
- Ability to critically review
and prioritize online business needs with the end-user web experience.
- Focus on client satisfaction
and quality service.
- Assist in all phases of
assigned projects, including day-to-day operations.
- Follow established procedures
in analyzing situations and completing tasks.
- Effectively manage own time and
prioritize projects to meet all production deadlines.
- Demonstrate world-class cultural
attributes and behaviors in all interactions.
- Strong partnership with internal business units,
channel owners and outside agencies to support development, launch and
optimization of campaign components.
- Develop briefs and deliverables, including business and
technical requirements.
Support measurement and
reporting plans, working with Business Analytics team to ensure necessary
business case development that meets objectives.
Interns must be
currently enrolled in a degreed graduate program at an accredited college
or university. Marketing and/or Communications majors with an emphasis on
online, digital, web or marketing research, and/or a related discipline are
highly sought and are encouraged to apply.
AARP also considers
non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change
careers. This may include those who have previously graduated college and
are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
- Must have
strong oral and written communication skills and excellent
presentation skills;
- Must be able
to work independently and to manage projects in a timely manner;
- Must be a self- starter, excellent initiator;
- Foreign
language spoken is nice to have (prefer Spanish);

organizational skills and ability to meet high standards for quality and

handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment and have sound business
